Welcome to the ABA’s brand new Listing Central!
Submitting list totals for publication is one of the ABA’s oldest traditions, and we’re taking it to the next level. Now, you’ll be able to submit all of the numbers you have in the past, plus some new ones. Over 3,000 new ones, including county lists! And it’s all online, and continuously updated.
And don’t worry, we’ve gone out of our way to ensure that we’ve preserved what was popular about the previous system, while vastly increasing its capabilities and bringing ABA’s listing functions fully into the 21st Century.
I’d like to turn things over to Greg Neise, our Listing Central moderator, and as committed a Big Day and Listing fan as you’ll find anywhere. Though Greg is our point man on this entire project, and will handle many of your questions about Listing Central, I want you to know that the entire staff is here to help you through this transition. Let us know what you like about the new system, what you don’t, and what you simply can’t make heads or tails of. Together, we’re going to make this thing great.

I’m very pleased to announce that as of today, you’ll be able to submit your county totals for all of the United States and Canadian provinces.
We also added the ability to define your own big day areas, so go ahead and submit big days for your state, region, city park … however you choose to define your big day.
Getting started is easy. We need to confirm who you are, and then you can choose a username and password. The user name isn’t displayed anywhere. It’s just the name you log in with.
You can choose to use the same username and password as you may have for membership renewals, or member-only content.
Once that’s set, you simply log in, and start entering your list totals. We’ve designed the system to make it as simple as possible to enter and update your totals…
…which brings me to another point. Now you’ll be able to submit or update your list totals any time you like.
In addition to viewing the lists, you’ll also be able to filter and sort the totals. So for instance, you’ll be able to view just “no heard-only” totals.
Additionally, each member has a profile page, with all of the list totals they’ve submitted in one place. Think of it like the back of a baseball card.
There are simple instructions on this page to help you get started. Once you’ve entered your numbers, check out the Listing Blog and Forum. Lots of good discussion and a great place to get help finding target birds, discuss the latest checklist changes … or whatever is on your mind.

Step 1: Register
The first thing we need to know is if you are an ABA member:Please note that these are instructions, the register link is at the bottom of this column.
After we match you in the membership records, we then create your member profile:
The create account button will take you to this simple screen:
Choose a username, enter your email address, and your first and last name as you want them to appear in the list reports and forum.
When you click the Register button, we’ll send you an email with a temporary password, and a link to the login screen:
Enter the username and password from the email, and log in. That’s it … you’re in!
Please note: although anyone can view the lists and the forum, only ABA members can register and submit their totals, or participate in the forum.
